Microsoft Bluetooth Ergonomic Mouse Buttons or Scroll Wheel Not Working
When the mouse buttons and or the scroll wheel are pressed, the device does not respond to inputs. The following steps will remedy this problem:
Dead or Low Batteries
See if any lights are showing; if not, then that could be a sign that the batteries are dead and not supplying any power, causing the buttons or scroll wheel to stop working.
Solution: Replace the batteries with two new AAA batteries.
Replace the batteries with two new AAA batteries. Make sure they are inserted correctly according to the positive (+) and negative (–) markings inside the mouse.

Disconnected Bluetooth
The Bluetooth could be disconnected from your device, causing the input from the buttons and scroll wheel to not be detected.
Solution: Look at the computer's Bluetooth.
Open the Bluetooth settings on your device and confirm that the mouse is turned on and connected. If it is not connected, put the mouse into pairing mode by holding the Bluetooth button and reconnect it to the device by selecting the mouse on your device.
- Follow this guide to connect the Bluetooth [link]
Dirt or Debris in Buttons
There could be a buildup of dust, dirt, and grime behind, inside, or around the buttons, which would prevent them from working properly.
Solution: Inspect/Clean the mouse of debris/grime.
Check to see if the mouse has visible grime built up inside or around the buttons and scroll wheel. If so, clean it out with a Q-tip, compressed air, or a similar method. IMPORTANT: While cleaning the mouse, avoid getting it wet.

Worn-out or Damaged Internal Button Switches
Over time, the continued use of the mouse can cause the switches under the mouse buttons to wear out, especially if the mouse is used very often.
Solution: Bring the mouse to get the switches replaced or replace the entire unit.
If the previous three steps were done and the mouse is still not functioning properly, then the internal components may be worn out or damaged in some other way. If this is the case, then the mouse may need to be opened and repaired or replaced entirely.
