If your Asus Chromebook CX1500CKA-AS84F's trackpad isn't working, follow these steps to get you trackpad to function again.

Causes

1
  • Dust or any other types of debris can interfere with the performance. So to fix this issue, you can carefully clean with a cloth.
2
  • Restarting your laptop could be the simple solution to this situation.
3
  • In your touchpad settings tab, you may see a reset button, which could reset your trackpad back to its default settings.
4
  • Disable or remove any third party programs or utilities that might be causing issues with the trackpad.
5
  • It's possible that the cable that connects the touchpad to the main board is loose. So to fix this issue, we'll have to open up the laptop. Before opening the laptop to access the trackpad cable, turn it off and unplug the power. Reposition the cable so that it is entirely and accurately inserted after carefully opening the lock that holds it in place. Then, firmly close the latch.
6
  • First disassemble the laptop, and carefully remove the bottom case to inspect the battery.
  • Then check if the battery is swollen, as this causes the cable to become loose.
  • After, if it is swollen, disconnect and remove the batter, since it may cause further damage if kept in place.
  • Utilize external power and reassemble. You can either buy a new battery or use the laptop with a cable connection without one.
