My Problem
My battery was bulging, causing my screen to bend ... so it clearly needed replacement.
My Fix
The repair guide was awesome, and it all went almost perfectly ... but I managed to get some dirt in the screen connectors when re-attaching them, so I needed a second disassembly and a toothbrush to clean out the connections. Second time was a charm.
My Advice
If you get dotted blocks that appear on the top of your screen after replacement, it's probably dirty connectors. If like me you don't have any alcohol around that's electronics grade, then I lightly brushed the connectors with a soft toothbrush. That fixed things for me.
