My Problem
My iPhone 5 has been unable to keep a reliable charge. I am have not been sold on the new handsets on the market and thought I would try to extend the life of this device. So far, that appears to be an accurate statement.
My Fix
It was really easy with the iFixit Tutorial. I did purchase the tool kit so having the pry tool made the process feel much more safe.
My Advice
There were two things that I think were missing from the tutorial.
1. There is a plastic bracket that surrounds the touch screen. Due to the age of my device the plastic bracket was separating from the actual screen towards the bottom. When prying and unclipping the screen from the base, be sure to pry from under the plastic bracket.
2. When reassembling the screen, you must install the screen top first by laying the screen in the rear case and sliding up to the top of the rear case. Not doing this will result in the phone screen not seating properly in the rear case when it is closed.
