My Problem

The battery in my iphone 5 was getting weaker and weaker. Even after charging all night, it would usually die before noon and take hours to recharge. It was not really a "mobile" phone any more as I had to keep it plugged in 80% of the time. I decided to try replacing the battery instead of just trashing the phone and buying a new one.

My Fix

My 17 year old son actually did the repair. It took him about 1.5 hours from start to finish. According to him, removing the old battery was a breeze. He felt that the tricky part was getting the phone put back together after the new battery was installed. The first couple of days were slightly disappointing, as the newly installed battery didn't last as long as I had hoped. HOWEVER, I'm pleased to say that after a few charging cycles, the battery seems to have gotten stronger & now lasts all day! Quite an improvement!

My Advice

For $29.95, it's worth it to try a new battery before replacing the entire phone. As a last resort, find a teenager to install it for you! :D
