Moderate

My Problem

Original OEM battery on its last legs. Charge would drop suddenly at 20% and die.

My Fix

Went very slowly to make sure I didn't damage any parts. Grabbed a work light to provide plenty of illumination.

My Advice

When pulling the LCD assembly with suction tool, you only need to lift up the corner right above the headphone port to reveal an indentation. Insert pry tool/guitar pick in that indentation to lift up the rest of the assembly.

Some commenters said they didn’t need to remove the lcd assembly, but I chose to since it would get in the way when I remove the battery.

Next time, remember to use blow dryer FIRST to blow heat to the back of the case and not on top of the battery.

Don’t lean pry tool against the logic board to use it as leverage when removing battery. Use pry tool to lift the battery while using pull tab to slowly pry the battery off.
