My Problem
In the past, our son would toss his MacBook around when done using it. Such as slamming the top closed then immediately tossing it on the couch or bed. We all know that's a no-no without letting the drive spin down first. There were even a couple of times when it actually hit the floor or fell out of his book bag. The Apple folks were wanting to charge upwards of $500 to replace the drive but suggested to get it and replace it ourselves.
My Fix
The repair was slick and easy. Followed the instructions and a few screw turns later it was in and following the IFixIt instructions on installing a new OS X on there through the recovery option, the Mac was up and running within a couple of hours.
My Advice
I'm glad I found this site and the very useful information and answers to all my questions. I won't hesitated to come back!!!
