The Maytag Corporation is an American home and commercial appliance company that was founded in 1893 by Frederick Maytag of Newton, Iowa. The company original manufactured farming implements before eventually shifting to make washing machines in 1907. Maytag became known for producing washing machines that were built to last which earned them a reputation for reliability and durability that carries through to today. Maytag continued expanding its product line to include appliances such as dryers,dishwashers, and refrigerators. In 2006, Maytag was acquired by the Whirlpool Corporation, but the Maytag brand still exists as a subsidiary of Whirlpool, where it maintains its focus on producing reliable and durable appliances for both residential and commercial customers.
Maytag's success can, in large part, be attributed to its commitment to quality and continued innovation. The company was one of the first to introduce the agitator in its washing machines, which revolutionized the industry and made washing clothes both easier and more efficient. They have continued to develop new and advanced technologies since then, as well, with Maytag's PowerWash technology, for example, delivering a powerful cleaning performance that can tackle tough stains and dirt, while the FreshHold option keeps clothes smelling fresh for up to 12 hours after the wash cycle has finished.

The model number can be found on the back, behind the control panel or on the baseframe to the left (the right if you are looking at the back of the washer). The number can also be found inside the machine on the right bottom corner of the washer lid.
