Will this mean glass cannot be replaced?

So from Apple's video it says that the glass is now laminated to the display- does this mean that glass won't be replaceable?

We'll know for sure once we take one apart, but for now it looks like people will have to replace glass, digitizer, and LCD if they crack the glass.

More of apple trying to extort money! I mean can they just sell a device for once that takes under 5 seconds to change the battery? Like all phones it takes two seconds, but iPhone and iPods it takes half an hour and you have to take it apart, void the warranty, and solder.

One argument for this could be that they are trying to save space?

I do agree they are trying to extort money out of us (all the time), but that is a valid point...

Nah, if anything I'd give them the point about dust between the glass and lcd. I guess it maybe looks a little smoother too with less of a gap

If you watch the video on the website they explain all this. Apple does not need to extort money, they do well enough with their marketing campaign. http://www.apple.com/iPhone/design towards the end they show some manufacturing of the device. That glass is stronnnnnggggg

Right about 2 minutes 30 seconds

look. i work at the apple store in SoHo. I am a fan but def not a fanboy. But, seriously, of COURSE it cracked after dropping it on the floor. That's luck of the draw. Nobody said it was unbreakable. And, I have had TWO iPhones replaced because of dust under the glass. I am excited, but I will definitely be protecting this thing with case.

yeah but you had the whole unit replaced anyways, we're discussing a user with no warranty replacing just the glass

Maybe only both together, display and digitizer as a unit.

Like Miroslav says we won't know sure until it is taken apart, but, from this parts supplier, it looks like the glass and digitizer are not bonded directly to the lcd. Furthermore, in the video it did not show the glass being pressed onto the lcd. I'm not really sure what it was showing...machines doing something...but no lcd in sight. We will see.
