Just replaced the fan now powers up but black display... now what?

Help Please!

I replace a loud fan as per "Installing MacBook Unibody Model A1342 Fan" by Walter Galan on ifixit. Followed ESD precautions etc. Now Mac powers up but just have a black screen. The white LED is on, the hard drive spins up , I tried shining a bright light to see if the LCD was not backlit :no presentation. It stays on and will shut off if hold down power button, Help Please!

Simran, Thanks for your help. Stripped the whole computer down found a six lead IC on the Logic board almost between the USB ports with all leads covered with white corrosion (crystals were actually touching). Not very pretty but replaced the board and my computer is back up. I ordered the chip and will replace that SMD and see

if that resurrects the logic board.

Would you mind telling us exactly which IC this was so we can be on the lookout for others with this problem?

if there is corrosion you can wash it properly or resolder it . then check its working. from my side it should be working . changing that ic is the last option

the sleep light is always on or what ? if you hear the activity of volumes button then it means you mac is running . if you see the sleep light is always on then remove the ram from your mac and reinstall it again. and do a SMC reset by pressing buttons on left side together (Shift+control+option+ power button) for atleast 5 seconds by pressing and holding it reset all the hardware inside. then power up. you will see the screen if not then try to reconnect Lcd cable on the right side of the logic board. see the picture

SIMRAN unfortunately my left shift key has been none functional for 3 weeks . Will SMC reset work with right shift key depression?

no it will not reset the system . may be you can try with external keyboard

I agree, I will get you the component name and send a picture Unfortunately that repair will have to wait as right now I have a doctoral thesis that I am completing and a new job and all the paperwork that entails. I will get to this when I get those things completed.
