No new security, Nicks answer only works if you know the current password. What is a MBR?

Chosen Solution

At boot:

1. cmd-s

2. mount -uw /

3. cd users

4. ls (list the shortnames of all profiles)

5. “shortname” passwd (type the shortname of desired profile — minus the quotations

new password ******

retype password ******

6. reboot

IF you have an EFI password lock you are in Advanced Hacking Land not a friendly place for DIYers... IMnsHO better to contact Apple.
