What battery for a May 2018 MacBook Pro A1398?

I'm trying to find the replacement battery for my May 2018 Macbook Pro with Retina Display (https://support.apple.com/kb/SP776?viewl...)

I've searched the forum and can find plenty of reference to model A1398 but not from 2018 and I read the batteries are not all compatible due to differing chemistry. I'm finding this model particularly difficult to nail down as even on here it lists 2018 models as released after May, so I suspect this is not correct also.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Perhaps you're right! I looked up the warranty coverage and it shows Macbook Pro Retina Display 15", Mid-2015 but PURCHASED in May 2018. So That should narrow it down a bit for battery. It should be MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Mid 2015) Battery

however the model number is definitely A1398, which is still a bit confusing perhaps?

@jordanv42154 - Apple loves to confuse! One has to be careful to look beyond the model number as just like a Ford Mustang fro 1992 to todays are sizable differences! As you can see there are even two versions within this years series!

> A1398 IG

> A1398 DG

In this case both take the same battery! And here's the guide MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2015 Battery Replacement
