Will it boot with a bad battery (from wall power)?

I have a SL3 and it will not turn on at all. I have tried to force start it with the keyboard, but to no avail. Would a dead battery keep it from booting entirely?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

It's possible. It depends on what's wrong with the battery. No power issues can be tricky because they can be caused by pretty much any part in the device. Or it could be the motherboard itself.

Does the light on your charger come on when you connect it to power?

Sadly I only have a Surface Go Charger (no light) and USB-C chargers.

@dragon2236 Got it. That makes sense. In that case, it's going to be a bit trickier to determine what the issue is. We might need some history of the device to know more. What happened leading up to the device not powering on? If you know.

Otherwise, this will likely require opening up the device to know more. But battery would definitely be on the list of things that could be at fault.
