SSD not recognized by MacOS Recovery

Hello

My OWC SSD is not recognized by MacOS Recovery Disk Utility in my 2013 Macbook Air.

I carried out the Mac OS High Sierra update and successfully used the SSD for about a year. Then I think I did something wrong during a factory reset, and the drive is no longer recognized. Is there some way to send it out to OWC to get it reconditioned?

Otherwise I will see whether this procedure works.

Boot the machine up from an external source Mac and see if you can run Disk Utilities from it. If you don't have one, phone a friend with a Mac and use Target Mode.

Success!!! I finally have mac os running off my newer OWC drive in my 2013 MBA.

It took a lot of tries. The trick was to get High Sierra or later an external USB. This allowed me to "see" the OWC drive in recovery mode and apply "reinstall mac os" to it.

Next time I want to wipe the OWC I will have to go through this mess again :/

I think it's better to start with: boot your Mac while holding [Command + R].

Select Disk Utility and see if you can mount it this way.

Open Disk Utility, click View in the menu bar, and select Show all devices. You should now see your SSD drive listed above Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD Data volumes
