Send the console to Sony, pay them upward of $150 to repair it, and wait around 6 weeks to get it back in working condition.

Send your console to a local repair centre.

@celalsur They fixed it last time and it only worked for a month or 2

Can't I just change the thermal paste and use a heat gun?

@nytryder26 No, that's only a temporary fix. The permanent fix is to replace the NEC/TOKIN capacitors, which requires SMD soldering.

YLOD is not a problem, it’s just a symptom.

To fix a problem, you need to find it first. Blindly replacing things won’t work, fix things that are broken is the actual right thing to do.
