The March 2015 update of Apple's 13" MacBook Air features fifth generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, resulting in slightly increased performance and battery life.

Computer won't turn on, mag safe light stays green

My laptop suddenly stopped turning on after taking a small fall. I have tried the SMC restart, variations on holding the power button down, etc, and no luck. I have taken out the battery and tried to turn the computer on while plugged into the charger. In all cases, the magsafe light stays green (never turns amber, even when plugging/unplugging and pressing the power button) but the computer never turns on. I’ve never heard the fan kick on and it hasn’t made any type of startup sound. Any suggestions?

Two potential instigating factors:

1) It slid off a small stool and fell onto the ground (about a foot or so).

2) I took it to Hawaii (very humid) when it’s been an Arizona (very dry) computer its whole life.

I’d prefer not to reach out to a repair person as I’ve since bought a new computer and want to use this one to learn how to do fixes!

Thanks in advance. :)

You’ll need to dig deeper to figure this out. Grab a DVM a set of schematics and board views and start tracing out the power rails. You might want to jump over to Louis Rossmann’s YouTube channel to see how he works out the different circuits.
