Replaced battery, magsafe light not on, battery not charging

Replaced the battery after the old one was seeming to expand.

When I first turned on the computer after the battery intallation the battery showed 100%, then it instantly went down to 25% which it has been ever since. The mag-safe light is not turning on and “Battery not Charging” on battery info. I am uploading the coconut battery report if that helps. Thank you for your help!

Update (01/07/2022)

Thank you very much for your reply, I was just going to update that I moved the charger to another plug and it started charging, but now has gone up to 39% and although at the time the menu stated that the battery was charging now again it is stuck at 39% stating that the battery is not charging… could it be a charger issue?

I am attaching the new coconut Battery report.

Sadly your charging logic on the main logic board has a problem. Other than making sure the MagSafe port contacts and insulator area are clean so the power is getting in (the center one-wire comm connection is working here) there is little you can do here without fixing the issue which is likely a burnt comparator resistor or two.

Here’s a good reference: How cheap eBay batteries DESTROY Macbook logic boards!

I have not used an ebay battery though, I bought one here. Could the burnt comparator resistor also happen by a faulty charger cable i.e. when the outer tube has split?

@morefaith - Yes! The charger can short out the power to one-wire lines. Please get a REAL Apple unit directly from Apple Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter (for MacBook Pro with Retina display)

Your issue is not the battery.
