How to fix MacBook running on cord power instead of battery

I was replacing my battery with an ifixit battery it was working fine until the next day when it wouldn’t turn on then I connected the power cord to the MacBook and pressed the power button and it turned on but no battery symbol in the menu bar or in system preferences I tried resetting the SMC but with no luck it didn’t work I put the original battery in and it worked again how do I fix this.

Try replacing the battery. It may have failed causing your macbook to not recognize the battery.
