Runs slow and certain processes fail

I am trying to figure out why the MacBook Pro is running sluggish through many tasks and then some tasks it seems to be failing altogether. I tried to make a time machine onto a flash drive and canceled it after it running for 3 days and only being 2/3 of the way through. It's not my computer so I'm not sure when it began. I used First Aid and all the discs came back clean. Any advice?

Answer this question I have this problem too

You have a bad drive and/or HD SATA cable Your Hard Drive Cable Is A Ticking Time Bomb

First try replacing the cable make sure don’t fold the cable as the crease damages it! MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable followng this guide MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Hard Drive Cable Replacement

After you replace it make your backup, then create a bootable USB OS installer, then reformat (replace *) your drive to clear the corruptions and install a fresh OS and restore your stuff.

  • If you still have a HDD I would replace it with a SSD at this point.
