How do I program new remote controls?

I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and I lost the key fobs. I ordered replacements, but I can’t find any information on how to pair the key fobs with the car. Is this something that has to be done at the dealer or does someone know how to do this?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

No. There is a physical key that unlocks the door and starts the car. There is a separate remote control to lock/unlock the doors and pop the trunk

That’s something the dealership usually handles but they’re probably going to make you use an OEM key. Maybe an automotive locksmith can help. I used to work for Batteries Plus Bulbs and we would program keys for all sorts of vehicles. Their rules may have changed but customers were able to bring their own key for us to cut and program but we wouldn’t guarantee it would work or not.

To be clear, the key and the remote are separate components. The remote functions are not built in to the key.

The new Elantra keys unlike the old models need pairing with a diagnostics tool which can be done with the dealership or any company that offers car key programming, usually without any guarantee if there your own keys
