Replacement of Optical Drive

I have a 2Ghz MacBook 13" A1181. The optical drive is acting up and will not read most CDs and DVDs. I have a PowerPC model MacMini sitting on shelf. Is the MacMini's optical drive compatible with the optical drive on a MacBook of this model?

Thanks,

Thanks for the info. I am assessing my options overall. I will most certainly consider this site for purchase of a replacement drive, if I go that route.

The older MacMinis used 12.7 mm optical drives and your MacBook uses a 9.5 mm drive. So no they can't be interchanged. http://www.ifixit.com/Mac-Parts/Mac-mini...

For some things, not involving the system. the MacMini could be set up as the master drive in Target mode to install to the MacBook. System things will not work because it would try to install PowerPC instructions instead of Intel.
