Installation of a new microwave as a replacement for an existing one

My microwave oven is externally vented. Should I need to replace this oven, can I rely on the external vent location on the back of any new microwave oven of the same size (of any brand) being in a standard location that will line up when installed in the same place over my range?”

This started off as an addendum to a question I posed and updated back on 9/3/2020 about the night light feature not working properly on my current oven and apparently is a stumper, so I’m considering replacing the appliance.

To be honest, unless you plan to cook over 30 minutes at a time, it shouldn’t matter where you have it vented to… I am not sure i really understand that question, so if that doesn’t answer it let me know

@moe_r they are not in a standardized location. Most of them are in the same general area. If you have some “wiggle” room for the vent where you currently mount your MW, it will be okay.

Thanks! That's all Im wanted to know. Not much "wiggle room" on the MW installation so I guess any replacement will be limited to those with the rear vent within about a half inch (or less) of where it is now. I'm with you in rather fixing something than tossing it, though. Guess I'll live with the bad night lite as long as I can then.
