Black screen and beeps will not boot up

On powering up my imac the screen remains black and beeps @ 2second intervals, can anyone HELP!

Try reseating your RAM one stick at a time. While in there check the capacitors for swelling and/or corrosion. Next, observe the diagnostic lights in the middle of the logic board and let us know how many come on when you try to boot. There are two button switches to the left of the diagnostic lights, one resets the machine the other restarts it - push these.

reseated ram - nothing.

removed ram and turned computer on minus ram. turned ofF and refitted ram. turned on again and FIXED!!!!!!!!!YAY

Awesome!!! Just when I thought my iMac black screen was hopless, I followed dstee's steps and in addition I replaced the two rams in the two empty ram slots. AMAZING!!! A white screen and it completely booted!!! Thanks!!!
