Replacing Hard Drive with SSD

I want to replace the drive with the 1TB SSD from this site. The page for the SSD says it requires a SATA III controller. How do I confirm if I already have that? Or is that something I can install? Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

That MacBook already has a SATA 3 controller, that is embedded with the logic board on a chip called the PCH (Platform Controller Hub or you could say chipset).

I assume you are referring to this SATA SSD right? If yes you can install that and reinstall MacOS (additionally do a time machine backup to do transfer) and you’re all set.
