The April 2014 update of Apple's 13" MacBook Air features refreshed dual-core i5 and i7 processors, plus slightly increased battery performance.

MacBook air doesn't boot on battery

Hello,

I have an early 2014 13” macbook air that got damaged by water. I took it appart and let it dry for a fex days, and then reassembled it. Now it doesn’t want to boot when the battery is connected.

When the battery is connected, the magsafe light doesn’t turn on, and nothing happens when I try to boot.

If i disconnect the battery and plug in the magsafe, the lights turns orange and I can boot it. I can event plug back the battery while it’s on, but it doesn’t charge, and if I remove the magsafe, it instantly turns off.

When I plug the battery while the mac is booted, it gives me the battery voltage and everything, but do not want to charge (without any error. Sometimes it’s just saying “the battery is not charging”, and sometimes it even says that it is charging, and the percentage is increasing very slowly).

It seems like the battery is working fine, but the computer doesn’t want to use it.

What could be the problem ? I already tried to reset the SMC.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Your logic boards charging logic is damaged. At this point I would recommend bringing in your system in to an independent Mac repair shop. Apple won’t fix a water damaged system.

Your other option is just replacing the logic board MacBook Air 13" Early 2014 Logic Board Replacement

That's pretty sad... Do you know if there's any way to test the charging logic on the board ? Or at least to physically test the battery ?

Thank you !

Other than looking at the MagSafe charger LED that's about all you can do without digging into the system.

So the LED should not be on if the charging logic is faulty ? Cause when I connect the battery while the computer is on, the magsafe light is orange like if everything is working great

by

Amber (orange) under charge, Green charged, no LED bad connection (dirty contacts or problems with the MagSafe charger and/or the DC In Board, or the charging logic is damaged.

Mine is orange, but the battery indicator in mac os still says "battery is not charging"
