swap out white for black fan connector

I ordered a set of fans. They have the white connector rather than black even though all the numbers are correct. Can I swap the connectors, that is take the black connectors off the old fans and put them on the new ones. If so what are the pinouts as the wires are different colors for white vs black connectors as the fixit manual shows in the photos.

The color of the wire doesn't mean squat. See if they go to the same connections.

Figured as much. This assumes that both connectors on the board are oriented the same way in terms of pinout and are coming out of the fan in the same orientation. White connectors are in a different location on the board than the black connectors. Can one assume that that the wire and connector orientations are the same for both styles, locations of connector ?

Right fan connector is in the same location.

Left appears to be different.

Pictures would help. Do the fans have the same number of wires? Same length? Same connector besides color (3 wall, 4 wall)? In my workstation I have fans with 2, 3 and 4 wires.
