MacBook Air 13” 2015 shuts down after being lifted off of a surface

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I’ve been googling this question since around 2016 and have never found an answer. So I’m caving in and finally asking.

My Macbook Air 2015 turns off when it’s lifted off of a flat surface or moved in any way. Some keys make cause it to shut down as well. I do not get a shut down message or anything, it simply just shuts off.

It charges just fine, and sometimes it’ll stay on for minutes at a time while other times it won’t turn on at all.

I don’t think there’s any water damage, it might have gotten dusty over the years or something could have come loose? My teenage self also stupidly ran The Sims 3 on it so I’m thinking that could be the culprit as well.

I’ve tried just about everything other than opening it up, but now I’m a young adult trying to go to college and actually need this laptop, so I’m willing to open it up and take the risk if that’s what it takes!

If anyone knows if this is a fixable issue (even if it’s a difficult solution) or if I should just shell out for a new laptop please let me know!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Can you give us some history, did you get the system wet at some point or bang or drop it? Is the bottom cover missing screws?
