Discoloured MacBook screen with dead Pixels

Hi, i have had my base model 2015 Macbook pro for a while now but only recently has my screen shown these problems. When the macbook starts the screen is normal with the exeption of a couple dead pixles, then after about 30-60Min use the screen gains a red tint, more dead pixels and at times red lines across the screen.

I have asked around but no one has been able to dirrectly identify the problem, i assume its a screen problem an i intend to replace the screen myself but before i spend $500 buying the part i would like to hear your opinions to what it may be. Through my knowledge so far it could be either be a screen problem or a gpu problem. Thanks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

While your screen may need replacing do to the dead pixels. I don't think replacing the screen will fix your color shift issue.

Lets do a bit more diagnostics here.

Connect an external display via the mDP/Thunderbolt connection. Do you see the color effect on it if not then its the display alone, If you see the artifacts on it then the main logic board has failed and will need to be replaced.

You might find replacing your system a cheaper option if both need replacing.

When i use an external display through HDMI, the picture is normal. Lately i have been using my macbook more as a desktop.

Then you've proved the issue is the display alone! I hope you are sitting down as the cost of a new display assembly is around $600 Ouch! Right now the cheapest used part is this one 13" MacBook Pro Display Assembly, Apple P/N 661-02360 - Grade-A ($450) and here's the guide to put it in: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Display Assembly Replacement

People are holding on to these as it still allows one to upgrade or even gain access to the drive.

Flat Rate Depot Repair?

by

@mayer - I don't think the cost of the part is included. Mac Service and Repair

That is much better pricing than the flat rate repair. as to if the battery is included we would have to ask.
