Problems with lock screen after ipad mini 4 screen replacement

Hi, I got my ipad mini 4 screen replaced by non technicians (ie I did it by myself).

Now the power button usually doesn’t lock screen but on long pressing can bring up the slide-to-shutdown screen and I have annoying “auto“ screen lock (ie screen locked without any reason and frequently, even few second after I’ve inserted the password to unlock).

Any help?

It’s not the power button, usually it’s because there is a tiny magnetic sensor on the screen, near the home button missing, causing the device not able to properly detect magnetic cover.

This works on iPad mini 2/3, not sure if the sensor is in the same place on 4/5.

thanks. I’ve looked at old screen: probably the sensor is folded onto screen while in the new I didn’t folded.

better: on the old display the sensor is covered with ahesive sticker while in the new there isn't, but fixing it didn't solve the problem

There is probably something wrong with the power button and you need to replace it.

Hope this helps!

As @tomchai mentioned there is a sensor that is causing the issue. Sometimes aftermarket displays don’t come with them and sometimes they do. If you still have the old display you could send it to someone who specializes in microsoldering or just get another display with the sleep wake sensor already attached.
