What LCD third party screens are compatible with this device

So I have been looking around on eBay for a replacement screen. Mine is starting to dim and is no where near as bright as when it was replaced under warranty 5 years ago. However, even for third party screens I am shocked at the price of a screen for this particular model compared to say mid 2013 / 14 / 15 which seem to be much much cheaper than the mid 2012 third party replacement LCDS. Are any of these later models compatible with the MBPR 15” mid 2012?. Or is a case of sucking it up and paying the price of these third party vendors for an A1398 screen?. Trying to get the best price and option possible. Or, is it possible to self refurbish my own screen to restore the brightness?. There are no dead pixels on the screen and besides the brightness issue the screen is working perfectly.

I'd be a bit careful with purchasing a replacement screen if the only issue is brightness. Backlight is for the most part taken care by the logic board, the screen just has a led strip that so far I've never seen dimming out on its own.

Apple is still supporting this one, so I would call them ask for a “Flat Rate Depot Repair”. I may cost as little as 4 days total time and cost $357.00 including tax and shipping. It costs nothing to ask.

New screens for all of the 15” 2012 ~ 2015 models are all about the same price. So I’m not sure I follow your logic.

Here’s one source of used displays which will work in your system TheBookYard - Retina MacBook Pro 15" Complete Display - LG (12/E13)

Well I was looking on eBay and other sites and I saw screens for mid 2012 anywhere up to £700 and for other models as low as £200. Thank you for the link though I appreciate it

@skylerkae - I really don't like buying on Amazon or eBay when I have better suppliers available that stand behind their products. Thats not to say all are bad its just your chances are higher.
