generic question about MacBooks and hard drives.

Hi team! I’ve run into contradicting information on google, so I’ve come to the people who know best to help me resolve it.

MacBook pro. I’ve been told by some, that they don’t take 3rd party hard drives, and some people have said they do. other people say only some models take them.

My request is;

1) Do they, or don’t they?

and

2) if only some models, is there a list of MacBooks stating whether or not they do?

Pre-retina models (mid-2012) use SATA hard drives. Post Retina machines -some have changeable sticks, some are integrated. Look up individual macs on https://everymac.com

older Macs use slower drives.

Your question is like asking, "I want to buy a bra for my friend, what size do I get." Answer - It depend on a couple of factors.
