Need to get pictures off

I have a 2005 eMac and it has over 5,000 pictures… how can I transfer them off? I can’t use a USB because they all need newer programs than what is installed. Any suggestions?

You just need the raw data off so that it is accessible. The pictures can then be imported into whatever program you want. So an external USB drive will work. Just drag and drop your data onto the external drive.

Every time I insert a USB it prompts me to download a program to use the USB. And my computer is too old to coincide with any newer programs. Do you know of any external USB drives that do not require a program to run? Thank you for all your help!

Does it prompt you to down a program (if so what program)? The computer may be trying to get you to format the drive.
