screen and casing damage

My mac book recently was damaged from unknown causes but has a cracked monitor that looks like a spider web and some dent on the bottom of the computer in the area right above the battery,

for a while i was able to run the computer using an external monitor but now when i attempt to start up the computer i can hear the devices in side make that normal sound that they usually make but no boom noise and i can no longer get any images on my external monitor?

i know the monitor will need replacing but what would cause the images to stop appearing when i hook up to an external monitor?

thanks

Try to do a PMU reset. To do so, disconnect the computer from the wall, take off the battery then push on the power button for 5 to 10 seconds then reinstall the battery, connect the ac adapter and try to start the machine.

i just test the PMU how you said to and the computer is still doing the same things. doed that mean the PMU is bad or good?

PMU reset is just a troubleshooting procedure to check if the computer has an electrical issue.

Is your screen completely dark or you get a grey screen when you try to start the machine ? No chime at startup could indicate a hardware issue.

before u could see the pixels and all the color with the damage, now it remains black, also the little white light thats on the button that u push in order to open the laptop pulses and remains lit when I turn on the computer

i also may have had the computer on mute the last time it was in use if that could prevent the chime

The area right above the battery holds the RAM. Take the battery out, take the three screws that hold the RAM cover down. Ground yourself out so you don't zap the RAM take it out and then reseat it.

i dont have anything to ground myself with so i probably wont be able to do this for a few days but i have looked at the RAM since the damage and they all "seem" to be okay, but can the ram effect the video images?

You can ground out to a lot of things, any exposed water or gas pipes. The screw in a grounded three prong electrical outlet is usually the handiest.
