Hi all,

i have a good conditions iPhone XR but the mainboard is locked. It is possible to replace the mainboard with another one of an accident iPhone XR?

Does the Face ID have a correlation with the motherboard or can I keep what I have on my phone now and replace only the MB?

Thanks a lot.

The motherboard, Face ID sensors and the earpiece all must be transferred in order to Face ID to work.

You are opening up a can of worms. ios13 trips a lot of warnings. You should replace the lcd assembly, all cameras, battery, logic board and vibrator. All those parts are coded to the logic board.

While it is doable, it is a lot of work. Apple has serialized a lot of the components in the iPhone such as the battery and display assembly, which will pop up with a message that says, “Apple was not able to verify if this is a genuine screen/battery.” Also you’ll have to have the corresponding FaceID components for the board such as ear speaker and front camera assembly. For the amount of work it’s gonna be, sell that phone for parts and buy one that doesn’t have a lock on it.
