home button not functioning after replacing logic board

a week go I bought a used logic board on eBay for a replacement (my old one has a fried wifi chip) and it came with a home button of its own. After replacing the logic board, I realized that even though I was very sure not to affect anything else except the replacement of the board, the home button now does not function. I tried the other button, but the same result occurs. should there be anything I need to repair besides the logic board, or is the new board at fault here?

I am still able to charge my phone and my headphone jack still works, however i don't know if this would hint towards something or not. My guess is that the logic board is broken in some way, as it was working prior to the replacement, but I don't know how that's possible if it is at all.

Best thing to try would be a dock replacement that is the only part in between HB and the logic board. If that doesn’t help the issue would likely be on the board or its socket to the dock assembly. Here’s the guide:

i can confirm that this piece still works, as the old button still works with the old board, but any button refuses to work with the new board. Does this have any meaning whatsoever, or should I replace the old board with a new one just so the new logic board and button can work?

@ramwolf Sounds like you have a faulty new board.

The motherboard you bought from ebay must have its original home button otherwise it will not work at all or just will work only for home not for finger sensor will not be recognized.

I tried both buttons (my old one and the one the board came with) with the new board, but none of them work. Surprisingly, the old one works when the old logic board is active, but the new one doesn't work at all, regardless of what logic board I connect it to. Should I get a new home button, or is there a second problem?
