Fix broken iSight camera cable

I think I have damaged the camera connector on my MBP when installing an OptiBay drive, how can I replace the cable or fix the connector?

Could I get Apple to fix this with my AppleCare?

AppleCare is for defects in manufacturing. Apple will not fix it under AppleCare as the damage is not their fault. They may also void your warranty. Please tell us more about this damage.

Well all I know is that I had to take out the camera cable to take out the CD drive, and no the camera doesnt work so I can only assume they are connected. Could I put everything back to normal and claim it just started not working and see what they do.

Step 5 of the guide shows the disconnect, what part did you break?

MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2010 Optical Drive Replacement

It will be necessary to slide the small clear plastic cable retainer (boxed in red) glued to the logic board out of the way before disconnecting the camera cable. Be careful not to break any components off the board as you slide it away from the camera cable connector.

Pull the camera cable connector toward the optical drive to disconnect it from the logic board.

This socket is metal and easily bent. Be sure to align the connector with its socket on the logic board before mating the two pieces.

Hello,

I think I have done the same thing. I was a little tired when doing a cd drive change and the isight cable connector socket popped off the circuit board.

Is this a lost cause or can it be repaired?

hello guys, i am experiencing the same $@$* in 2019, LMAO! and actually to replace the optical drive , the socket isn’t necessary to be plug off. Unfortunately, after searching for some solution, the cable can’t be fixed, but need to be changed. Well, if you don’t really need the camera, we can just ignore it. I just feel that some of the laptop’s part gone. %#*@.
