Bluray drive from CECHL03 to a CECHG03

I’m trying to replace a broken drive in my CECHG03 with one from a CECHL03, but the drives seem pretty different. Is it possible? I know I have to keep the daughterboard but they’re attached to the drive differently? Ones exposed and the other is hidden inside.

Options

I think the drive went through 5 or 6 revisions between CECHG and CECHL, with mechanics and electronics changed top to bottom, there is no way to put the board for one to the other, not even the connectors are in the same place.
