Cooling fans constantly running at 6000rpm when cold

My cooling fans are now running at maximum speed (6000rpm) all the time from startup to shut down. I normally use SMC fan control, but have now uninstalled this and tried the Mac with and without it installed.

Have also reset the SMC and zapped the PRAM etc.

However, they are still whirring away constantly even though the machine is just 32 deg.

Mac works fine apart from this...... Any ideas?

I was thinking one of the temperature sensors has failed.

Options

Start up from your original system installation disk holding down the "D" key. Run the diagnostics and let us know what you get.
