Front Camera and ear speaker not working after battery replacement

Hi all!

I recently replaced the battery on two iPhones, a 6s and a 6s Plus and had a lot of fun. Everything seemed to work, however after some time i realised the front camera and the ear speaker of the 6s Plus are not working.

The display is turning dark when the phone is placed next to the head during a call, so I assume the light sensor works (?).

Answers to many similar questions posted to this forum suggest that the flex cable connecting the logic board and the camera might be torn.

While I was super careful, didn’t bend the screen over 90 degrees and can’t spot any damages on the cable, the connector or the logic board (I also removed the screen before removing the battery), i’d like to replace this cable.

I noticed that the flex cable is not available separately in the iFixit store for the 6s Plus. Its only possible to purchase a whole new screen which includes the cable.

Is it possible to replace this cable on an iPhone 6s Plus without replacing the screen? And would eg. this cable be the right part? It doesn’t mention the ear speaker.

Here is the link for the ear speaker.

Here is the link for the Front Camera / Sensor Flex.

A damaged Ear Speaker is pretty rare so your issue is most likely caused by a damaged FCAM flex or incorrect installation/alignment.

You may just have to replace the entire screen. I found an iFixit link below, that notes that replacing the speaker is separate. Unfortunately, I don’t know where to find another earpiece, so just go with a new display. (iPhone 6s Front-Facing Camera and Sensor Assembly Replacement)

Good luck!
