Trackpad functioning erratically and clicking by itself

From yesterday my trackpad has been behaving weirdly, the mouse pointer is stuck and does not function. Are there any instructions on how to debug or replace the trackpad?

Looking for some guidance on it.

I replaced the trackpad with cable but no action on it. The battery seems okay. Attached pictures of battery

I think I see corrosion on the logic board!

You'll need to dust it off and wash it down with distilled water and a toothbrush to clean off the corrosion & salts.

Is there a guide for this. Do I need to remove the full logic for this? The wireless mouse used to work before but the erratic keyboard clicks used to be an issue, now I cannot even log in. Just does not take any clicks.

First use a small soft paint brush and a can of can'ed air to clean off all of the dust. The bottom right part of your 2nd picture looks like corrosion damage if you can't get it clean just from dusting out you need to take the logic board out.

Here's the guide to take the logic board out MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2012 Logic Board Replacement then use a soft tooth brush with distilled water in the area that needs deeper cleaning. Rinse off the area with 85% isopropyl alcohol, letting the board fully dry before re-installing.

And yes a messed up logic board (liquid damage) will effect the keyboard & trackpad.

The battery covers the trackpad sadly so you need to take it out to even get to the adjustment screw or to replace it.

I have ordered a trackpad replacement. I just replaced the battery 3 months ago.

Not sure if replacing the battery will have anything to do with the issue.

Can you double check your battery using a mouse instead? Install CoconutBattery and paste a snapshot of the main screen here for us to see Adding images to an existing question. also who's battery did you get?

by

Check and see if that battery is swelling (I know it's new, but sometimes they go belly up).

I finally got this resolved. It turned out to be a simpler solution. I loosened the screws of the trackpad a little bit on all sides, just a little and the seemed to have brough the play back into the trackpad. When I replaced the trackpad, I might have tightened the screws a little too tightly. Thank you for all your help.
