How to Upgrade to 800 mhz ram instead of 667 mhz with SPDTool

Hello,

I recently purchased Crucial 6gb 800 mhz ram sticks (4GB + 2GB DDR2) for my wife’s White 2008 Macbook (A1181 2242) and I read on this forum that people have gotten this setup to work using SPDTool to lower the clock speed of the new ram.

Unfortunately I didn’t find a tutorial for this process. I have SPDTool (And I have Windows 7 installed on my wife's Mac so I can use this tool), but I would like to know if someone could write a tutorial for me or walk me through this process because I’ve never done this before.

Thanks in advance!

This is a very simple answer. You bought the wrong RAM. Return the RAM and get the correct RAM.

RAM Type:PC2-5300 DDR2Min. RAM Speed:667 MHz

Don’t try putting a square peg in a round hole. You’re just asking for problems.
