Can I replace the internal hard drive?

hello,

my internal hard drive seems to be corrupted and the Bitlocker is activated with no password in hand.

so its seems that the solution to fix the problem would be replacing the hard drive. i cant get anywhere pass the troubleshoot when starting up the device.

anyguides on how to proceed to open the device. the process would be just opening the device, taking out the old and placing the new? and how to choose when buy the new hard drive, perphaps improving it since i would be opening it anyways.

really appriciate your help in advance.

Bitlocker should not matter. Try booting into windows install USB drive and completely erase the drive.

the bitlocker wont even allow me to get into that. i cant access any disk because it says its blocked.

You don't need to get past the bitlocker, just boot to Surface UEFI, choose boot from external USB and start from Windows installer drive. When you install Windows, delete every partition on Disk 0.

by

Also recovery key for BitLocker is usually under your Microsoft Account, or Azure AD account if it is AAD joined.

Not sure about the upgrade part. Maybe someone else can help with that.
