I am a former professional auto mechanic (Porsche and numerous foreign marques). I am currently a semi-retired computer programmer. My hobbies include motorcycles both riding and wrenching. Home automation. I like to pay it forward to the gear-head community what little I know. Having said that... I will not respond to rhetorical questions or blatant attempts to troll against my contributions. I periodically write articles on a blog about my projects. You may find those here: Timbocephus

Answer to "I pulled the rear view mirror off the window. Needs to stick to window"Go to an auto parts store and buy a mirror glue kit. Follow the instructions included with the kit. Wait the required time for curing the glue of the base plate to glass connection. Remount the mirror. Done. Cleaning the old glue and oil (from your fingertips even) off the window and the base plate is important!
Answer to "Could you tear down an iPad without heating the Glass?"Did you read the ifixit procedure for doing this ? Then the answer appears to be yes they did it wrong.
Answer to "Welding points on Flex cables"It might help you to Add images to existing questions.
Answer to "TV all of a sudden not working in one room; works in others."It is not obvious to me that “it is not a cable problem”. That is exactly what it looks like to me or at worst problem with the HDMI socket of the TV or the connections boards etc. Also the TV turning itself on is totally abnormal as well.
Answer to "Remove foreign object from engine cylinder"If you are talking wooden/graphite pencil I would not be too concerned, it will leave via the exhaust port pretty quickly with the engine running. The materials in a pencil are not hard enough to cause any damage. I don’t believe the wedge heads of a Corvair engine pose any risk of piston energy being transferred to the actual valve heads either. Many more modern designs with hemispherical head and canted valve configurations could pose a risk with soft materials like pencil fragments becoming captured under an open valve lip as it closes leading to piston valve interference damage. I don’t expect that could happen with the Corvair engine though. If you are OCD you might decide to dismantle or try using a borescope and a flexible tool to grab and extract the piece(s). Back in the day (1970’s) we routinely removed fragments of VW accelerator pump arms that fell into those engines from the Solex carburetors (a common failure mode). The fix was pouring about 16 ounces of tap water down the carburetor at...
Answer to "Why are the two times on my tablet different? Upper right corner and"(1) Check in the settings on the home screen widget and see if the time zone has been set incorrectly. (2) Also check settings->system->date&time and see what time zone you have set there. (3) Correct whichever is needed.
Answer to "ALL Files Vanished - Gone!"@ljbamberry you need to give the capacity of the passport drive. The used/free numbers you’ve quoted certainly seem bizarre all right.
Answer to "Looking for where to source a specific component"That is part of the motherboard assembly and as such probably hard to source as a separate item. Everywhere I looked on line was just parted out system boards above $500 USD so throw in a couple hundred more dollars and you can have a brand new 4k system. If you have plenty of time you might find a better deal with a determined search.
Answer to "Scanner ADF not working including light"This photo refers to the ADF fix added by @artfullservent 1/29/2019 Hopefully this gives a little better context of how to find the part that needs to be shifted to get ADF “back in gear”. Pictured printer is Epson WF-3640 with ADF lid open. I suspect this pops loose when scanning thick paper media that overloads the mechanism or something similar and apparently is common to multiple models of WF range epson ink jet printers. Thanks for the suggestion Brian!
Answer to "Share usb files via router"Have you tried to read this manual?
