My 3 mos old Whirlpool dishwasher pumps water in and out, no washing

I have a 3 months old Whirlpool WDF520PADM dishwasher and while under warranty, I`d like to try and reset, before making a bunch of appointments. I have had good luck in the past with resetting appliances , but I can`t find anywhere , how to reset this one. I can not push the heated dry and high temp, since I choose them in the mode cycle. It will pump the water in the dishwasher and pump it back out, but will not wash :-(

ohhhh...you have no idea how happy you just made me. I tried all kinds of combinations yesterday. I had googled and found somebody else posting how to reset but didn`t work. The problem I found was, that I have the select mode buttons , so I have to go through a sequence before I actually get to the heated dry and normal wash . Well, I just did what you told me and shut the door, turned on 1 hour wash and voila..you just made my day . THANK YOU . So nice to hear my dishwasher working :-)

@reginatx We have the same dishwasher and issue only it happened 3 years in… did you cycle through the modes to get to normal each time? I can’t seem to get it right

To reset it, you will have to have the door open. It can not be latched. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal," "Heated Dry," "Normal" within three seconds of the first pressed button. Now close the door, this should reset your dishwasher.

I had the same problem, went through all the online discovery Youtubes and blogs, replaced controller, water inlet valve, plunged the kitchen sink, cleaned all filters, and still there was no wash. Here is my solution: IF your dishwasher is 5 or more years old with the above symptoms of this problem where it fills and drains and seems to go through the timing, but the washer arm(s) are in the same position as when you started, then it is the circulation pump. I got one from Amazon for $99 (plus $15 for extended warranty), followed a wonderful YouTube that was on that Amazon pump sales page, and the dishwasher cleans like new!

I took advantage and also cleaned behind all the manifold tubings that carry water to the arms (they were YUCK), and am very happy now.
