Depending on your model, this may or may not be repairable. Seeing as how you haven’t given us any details on your device, I will just post general recommendations that I usually post for iPhones. If you have an iPod Touch, it will be very similar. If you have a nano or a classic, you will have different issues to deal with. You can find repair guides for iPods here.

The proper way treat a wet device is to do the following:

  • Open your phone and remove the logic board
  • Inspect the logic board, especially around the connectors and look for corrosion.
  • Inspect both sides of the board.
  • Put your board in a container with >90% isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for a while. If the battery is soldered to the board, just soak the board, not the battery or it’s connections.
  • Use a soft brush, like a toothbrush and lightly brush away any corrosion you see.
  • Rinse in alcohol and repeat.
  • Let it air dry for a day.
  • Re-assemble and hope for the best.
