MacBook fan not turning on

I have MacBook Pro, the fan doesn’t turn on by itself but can be turned on manually with Macs fan control application.

I have tried smc and pram reset, I can’t reinstall new Mac OS due to overheating and switching it self off.

I have also used the apple diagnostics and when the fan is tested it works fine.

any ideas what it could be.

thank you.

You'll need to get something that can better monitor your systems thermal sensors and fans. I would recommend getting this app: TG Pro. Once you get it running take a snapshot and paste it here for us to see. Adding images to an existing question

Let's first identify your exact machine so we are all on the same page. Go under the Apple to "About this Mac" and tell us your correct machine.

Which fan is inoperable? The left fan or the right fan? Are both fans inoperable?

If you can’t control the fans with fan control software nor does a SMC or PRAM reset help, I think the fan(s) are dead.

It only has one fan as it’s a 13inch, fan works fine when manually enabled with smc or any other fan application.

@justanotheruser You picked out the wrong device! You have it listed as a 15" which has 2 fans instead of the 13" which has one fan...

by

Thats why I had recommended using TG Pro so we would have a better view on the fans. Even with just one fan (if this is a 13" model) you really need to see the tachometer values which your current fan control app doesn't show.

If you want to shotgun this then just replace the fan.

Frankly, I would do deeper diagnostics first, as you may have a bad connector or the line to the SMC maybe damaged somehow.
