Fan Identification, Left or Right

Many references to “right” fan and “left”fan. Left and right as viewed from which angle?

The IFIXIT guides show the correct sides as labeled from a working position (keyboard up and display open). As an example MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2010 Left Fan Replacement. So from the bottom the fan is on the right.

Thanks, I am just trying to make sure that I order the correct part. Living where I do, an error leads to delays and long trips to the nearest Post Office.

I spent my life repairing equipment where location identification was addressed from the operator's position. This is just the opposite. The "left" fan is located on the "right". Perfect

With the access position being arbitrary, why didn't the poster turn the laptop 180º so that the left fan was shown on the left?

Typically the lid is placed at the top as thats how most people work on the system from a presentation perspective.
