Apple is showing the maximum RAM as 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM 2x4GB

So it appears it has two slots

it appears the maximum pre-configured amount is 8gb but the manual says it has 4 slots. what is not clear is if only the 27" model has 4 slots or if both do

What manual? Can you give a url?

There are four, so 4 x 4 GB. I edited the teardown this morning to reflect this fact. The box of the iMac lists the maximum RAM capacity as 16 GB.

How do I know which RAM slots of the four are already in use? My computer has 2-2gb of RAM. I want to leave those two in and add 2-4gb
