Replaceing a back light in the iMac
my computers backlight went out and the screen is black. I can shine a light on it and still see the screen but it is dim. Can i replace the backlight?

Sounds like you need to replace the inverter. Here's the one for the 1 GHz model: http://www.welovemacs.com/9225298.html
Please let us know which machine you have ( the info is located on the bottom plate), I have three different models here and can probably take a photo of the one you need.
