How to remove the hard drive to extract data?

My old mac ibook g4 will not turn on, apple says something to do with mother board. I am needing to extract data from that hd to my new mac. thinking about removing hd and putting in a housing to connect it to my new macbook pro? any suggestions?

You can use an external enclosure: [linked product missing or disabled: IF107-072]

If it's a firewire, you will be able to boot from it. You can't boot from a USB drive.

thanks Mayer, my new macbook pro doesn't have the same size firewire port so I am a bit confused ? any ideas ?

You can get a firewire 400 to 800 cable or a fire wire 400 to 800 adapter
